Partner Robert McCorkle was recently interviewed on WTOC’s “Hometown Hero” news segment featuring the Savannah Bicycle Campaign. The Metropolitan Savannah Rotary Club, of which Robert McCorkle is the current President, has selected the Savannah Bicycle Campaign as its annual service partner. This program, run by New Standard Cycles, takes donated bicycles, repairs them, and provides them to people who need transportation to and from work, school, doctor’s appointments, and other locations around the city. It often reduces their commute to work by 45 minutes to an hour.
The Metropolitan Savannah Rotary Club helped to build-out and renovate the new location for the Savannah Bicycle Campaign at 1301 Lincoln Street. The Club donated 115 hours of service to the Campaign in the last 6 months of 2014 and continues to volunteer and raise funds for the program through events such as the SouthCoast Health Grand Prix and the Roastary.
“[The Savannah Bicycle Campaign] is something that’s both close to the hearts of our members, and also a great opportunity for us to have an effect on the community.” Robert McCorkle.
